Audio Systems: Volvo S80 CD player HU-801 Error msg., volvo s80, laser pickup

I have an HU-801 CD/Radio in my '99 Volvo S80. The CD
player stopped working with the CD# flashing. When I
attemp to eject a CD, the "error" msg. illuminates. So I
removed the system and from the rear of the CD player
manually removed the CD's(thinking one might be
jammed). I plugged the system back in and the only
difference now is that I hear the changer shuffling. It will
not accept CD's and I still get the flashing CD #. The error
msg still shows when I press eject. Is there anything else I
could attemp to get it to work normally or am I destined to
bring it to a repair shop?   Thanks for you time!

With error codes coming up in the display it signals that either the laser pickup is dirty, out of alignment or defective. A defective sensor will also make a code come up in the display. Your best bet is to have a repair shop take a look at the CD unit.
