Audio Systems: Ford Taurus Radio, ford taurus, ford company

I have a ford taurus 96 radio is broke bought what was said to be for a 96 but in reality it was for a 98.  NOw the ford company in 98 went from two harness hookups to one hookup plug.  All the wires are the same i checked all same color coding and all.  So can i splice the 96 harness into the 98 and hook the radio up that way or will that damage something.  Please help

You should first check the wiring for each year to see if the wire colors match up for sure. You may want to check with your local ford dealer and ask for a print out of the stereo connectors.
