Audio Systems: car amp., rca cables, amplifier installation

Question
hi I was given a free amplifier and two six by nines.  I only have a stock car stereo with am/fm and tape deck.  How can I hook up my amp. to my stock stereo without buying a new CD player.  There are no spots to plug my RCA cables in the back of my stock stereo.  The rest of the amplifier installation I think I am fine with. So all I am asking is if I can hook up my amp to my stock car stereo.  Thank you  Jeff

Answer
Jeff,

ok i never ever recommend installing aftermarket amps and subs with a factory deck .. really because its complicated , can get expensive and you dont get near the sound quality and flexibility .. but the truth is sometimes you have to .. so no need to worry .. check out www.streetdreams.com/wires this will get you some much needed info on your stock wiring because you will need the 12 volt ignition/RMS wire for your amp and also the speaker output colors .. now you need a converter box that will convert your speaker high level outputs into low level RCA preouts .. which means you will splice/wire in your speaker + and - from all of your speakers to the box then from the box you will run your RCA cables to the amp .. that takes care of your sound .. the only other thing you need for your factory wiring is your RMS/turn-on wire which comes from your 12volt ignition wire .. then you just need the basic amp connections like power , ground then speakers .. hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
