Audio Systems: car radio, rubbing alcohol, laser pickup

i have a 1996 s-10 blazer and the cd changer when a cd is placed in the radio comes up with a err on the face plate and the cd ejects back out. im thinking the cd player is not spinning up. the radio is working fine. also if you think the cd player is bad what is the best way to go about fixing it. i am very handy and would like to do it my self with some guidance.

Hello James,
Try using a Qtip just moistened with rubbing alcohol and wipe the lense of the laser pickup. If any dust, dirt even cig smoke is on the lense it will not be able to focus and this may be why you see the err msg.
