Audi Repair: 2002 Audi A6 Cam problem, low oil pressure, mileage engine

Question
I just took my 2002 A6 into the dealer due to an intermittent engine light. I've been told that due to low oil pressure, the cams have been damaged and the engine must be rebuilt. Cost $15k. Does this remotely reasonable? I've done ALL of the scheduled maintenance. Can this be an accurate estimate?

Answer
Cam wear will not show up an engine light.  Ask for proof that the cams are worn, and I would never spend $15k for a rebuild; you can get a low mileage engine with a guarantee for $2500 or so.  Sounds like you need a different dealer...  Let me know,  Jan
