Audi Repair: Clutch, clutch problems, a4 quattro

Hello Greg I have a 1998 A4 Quattro and today went to go out and car wouldnt go into gear unless the engine wasnt running, Yesterday the car was fine with no indication of clutch problems or anything. Im completely baffled, theres no hydro fluid on the floor underneath or any sign of leakage on the car. I have alway had a very light thrust bearing squeek but never bad enough to cause worry. Any ideas

I can only say one thing - sounds like a clutch. Why it went bad overnight I do not know, unless press. plate broke in 2 pieces ( I have see it before) but this usually happen during drive. So looks like Trans will have come out for any diag.
