Why does my car start but when i put it in drive it shuts down?

Hello,

This is only a symptom to many different things that can be wrong. You need to take the vehicle to a service center. I could give you a whole host of problems that could be related to the symptom and it still may be something I did not think of. Just a few problems it could be: A bad idle motor, a bad catalytic converter, a vacuum leak etc.
Problems like this cannot be fixed over the web. I call it chasing ghosts. Have the vehicle physically looked at by a qualified technician.
