Cadillac Repair: trans solenoid, faulty computer, brake switch

i have a 1996 cadillac and it will not shift into overdrive, i need to no what is the name of the solenoid, and if it is the solenoid.     thnk you, eric

IS the CHECK ENGINE light ILLUMINATED ?.

What CODES are you getting from the computer ?.

The overdrive fault could be:

Faulty solenoid in transmission.

Faulty brake switch for solenoid release/apply.

Faulty computer.


If you are mechanicaly inclined or know of someone who is, You will need a DIGITAL MULTIMETER, Simple electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture.
