Cadillac Repair: 1986 Eldorado Biarritz Driver Information Center and Electronic Climate Control lighting, electronic climate control, cadillac eldorado

Question
I bought a 1986 Cadillac Eldorado Barritz with 29K on it a month ago. I know that the A/C cooling fan is not working and I ordered one for it. Therefore, I get an amber alert ot check the DIC.

Last week, when I got into the car and restarted it, there was no lighting in the Electronic Climate Control center or the Drivers Information Center (no writing). There was an amber  alert to chek the DIC, but there was no writing in the DIC. The ECC seems to be working, but there is no information available to read or to use for settings.

I do not have a repair manual, yet and I can't find any relays or fuses that seem to be marked for the centers. None of the fuses that I have looked at are blown.

I would apprediate any help that you could give me.

Thank you,
Lonnie

Answer
You either have a fault in the Central Power Supply module (CPS) and or a fault in the Climate Control Panel (CCP). Try unplugging the CCP and see if all the other items illuminate.

If you are mechanicaly inclined or know of someone who is, You will need simple electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture. I do not have a website so you will have to e-mail: onlineautohelp@msn.com in order to obtain the information.
