Cadillac Repair: wiring short?, high beams, cadillac deville

I have a 93 Cadillac Deville.  All of a sudden i smelt like electrical wiring melting, then 2 hours later i noticed my headlamps were on, they do not got out.  our local garage does not know or have technology to search for problem.  also the high beam indicator on front panel is on, but the high beams are not on themselves.  we had to undo battery to get lights off.  they ordered a new light switch but that is not the problem.  do you have any ideas of what this could be?  Thank you

You will need simple electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture.
