Cadillac Repair: 4.6L Northstar 93 ETC, starter solenoid, positive cable

$800.00 to replace positive battery cable! Declined this service. All dash lights come on & headlights, I get a single click and no start. Tech says it is an intermittent it now starts. He says the positive cable is an after market cable spliced in. Why so much $ to replace with oem cable and how did tech get it to start.

Sounds like a starter solenoid problem, Starter or cable.
