Cadillac Repair: Exhaust, fuel mileage, blue smoke

Question
Hi, my sons 1997 caddy deville has excessive condensation coming through the exhaust, even on warm days 126,000 no antifreeze in the oil and no drop in antifreeze. The car has to warm up half way before any significant drop is seen in amount of smoke. Smells funny also not sweet or like fuel. More of a burning smell.... catylitic convertor???

Answer
If you have white smoke you have to be passing anti-freeze thru the engine which would show up as low coolant amounts in the overflow jug and or the radiator.

If you have blue smoke this would be engine oil burning and you would notice oil usage of the engine.

If you have noticed a significant loss of get up and go or loss of fuel mileage this would be caused by the catalytic converter.

Just keep an eye on the coolant and oil.
