Cadillac Repair: extremely high idle, throttle positioning sensor, faulty computer

QUESTION: I have  93 deville (not touring),that every now and then the idle control motor will produce a very high idle.It like sticks the accelerator wide open. I've put a new motor on and seemed fine for about a week,then same thing,it like maxes out the accelerator.What causes this to happen? I finally just took the whole thing off for now.

ANSWER: IS or HAS the CHECK ENGINE light ever illuminated oon the dash while driving the vehicle ?.

possible causes can be a faulty intermittent THROTTLE POSITIONING SENSOR, Carbon deposits in the throttle body, Or a faulty computer.

QUESTION: yes the check light came on. When the sensor is moved,should the idle change? because it does not.you can adjust the sensor from left to right and nothing.

You need to adjust the throttle positioning sensor to a specific voltage setting with the idle speed control motor fully retracted and unplugged and at a specific base idle speed. After this is done you need to CLEAR (erase) the computer code and then, You need to perform a RE-LEARN PROCEDURE so the computer and reset all the components.
