Cadillac Repair: 99 cady catera shift problem, shift problem, shift lock

Question
My "brake to release/shift lever out of park" stopped working. The dealership said it was a bad shift lock control solenoid. They replaced it and I quote " The tech found that the key is turned for power enrichment that is when the vehicle releases out of park, not when you apply the brake." The dealership called a GM techrep who stated that their instruction manual was incorret and "to wire it to the opposite procedure" It then worked. It cost me $10.00 for "extra wire" ????? to do this and now my cruise control doesn't work - right out of the shop!
Is it possible something else was really wrong or they damaged the cruise control while "solving" the other problem?
   The tech line case #9835046.

Answer
When the bRAKE is applied is when the shift lock is energized and releases the locked solenoid.

As to your cruise anything is possible, A wire or hose may have accidentally got knocked off. Take it back and have a visual inspection made.

Most likely the cruise switch got miss-adjusted at the brake pedal when he was working on the wiring for the solenoid release.
