Cadillac Repair: Theft Deterrent System, theft deterrent system, fuel injection systems

Question
I just purchased a 1988 Allante and was cleaning the outside of the door switches and somehow armed the theft deterrent system. The owners manual says to unlock the either door with the key to disarm the system this does not work on this car. Is there another way to disarm or bypass the system? Now I cannot even start the car as the starter and fuel injection systems are shut down. Need help bad. Thanks David Emmerich

Hi David,

      If you can't disarm the theft system from either door key then you will need to remove the drivers door panel and find the wire connector for the door lock theft switch. Unplug it and then try the other door with the key and see if it disarms. If not then plug that one in and go to the other door and disconnect that connector and try the key in the first lock. If neither work then unplug both and then jumper the 2 wires for 1 second on one of the locks and then it should disarm. If it rearms then touch again and hopefully it will disarm.

    Hopefully 1 of those ways will work. Bill
