Cadillac Repair: Rear Struts, gm dealer, rear struts

Question
A year or so ago, the SSS light came on on my 1993 Sedan Deville. My GM dealer diagoned SSS codes 25 and 26 as faulty rear struts.  The service tech said that I needed to replace them with  GM struts (part #  22189459) cost $1,023 Canadian, plus two hours labor. He strongly advised not using conventional  struts, which are much cheaper. The ride is still reasonably smooth, though, understandably, not as smooth as when the car  was new.  It has traveled 88K miles and is in excellent shape. I intend to hand on to it for another 5 years or so. Would you advise installing the GM struts or is there a good conventional strut that will gave me as smooth and as quiet a ride?

Thanks,

Declan

Answer
Well nothing rides like the air-struts, of course you can replace them with conventional struts but the ride quality will be like an import. Rockauto.com has a lot of choices for replacements, the delco struts should run $200 a piece which is a good price, Ive never ridden on monroe but i havent heard of anyone with a caddi putting them in either. Replace them with delco parts.
