Cadillac Repair: 1993 ABS light problems, rear wheel speed, cadillac sedan deville

Question
I own a 1993 Cadillac Sedan Deville.  About 2 weeks ago, my "Anti-Lock" light goes on when I start the engine and stays on until I turn the engine off.  Now starting 3 days ago, it feels like my brakes are failing.  My anti-lock brakes aren't functioning and my brakes feel like a 1973 Cadillac.  Does anyone know what I can do or what the problem might be?

Answer
Hi Marc,

The best thing to do is to get your Caddy to your mechanic right away and have him scan the brake computor for codes. Unfortuneately you can't go through the dash for the brake codes and it requires a professional scan tool. What seems to fail most often is a rear wheel speed sensor. Also if you don't hear the abs pump turn on when the key is first turned on the abs pump or main relay is bad and needs to get replaced. I believe they are located under the black plastic panel under the hood below the windshield. If you looked in your owners manual it might say for sure. Sorry I don't have access to a manual at home or I would tell you.

Hope that helps and have a Happy Holiday. Bill
