-----Question-----
I have a 1996 cadillac concours with a northstar. Just recently when I try to start the car, it will start but then stall out. The information cluster will show a anti theft deterrant problem. I can undo the negative cable for awhile and the car starts fine. Once the car is turned off and sits the same problem reappears. What can I do or how can I reset this so it doesn't continue?
-----Answer-----
You either have a problem with the:

CHIP in the ignition key.
A broken wire in the ignition switch.
a faulty theft deterrent module.

Your Cadillac dealer has a special test box to test the system.

Answer
Looking in the trunk at the backside of the rear seat, To your left is a large aluminum box with 3 electrical plug in connectors. just to the right of this box is the PZM (module) that has 2 electrical connectors attached to it. This is the one you want. the PZM. which is also called the BODY CONTROL MODULE.

The new module will have to be re-programmed by your dealer to match the ignition key resistance in the key chip.
