Cadillac Repair: 99 cadilac deville, head gasket leak, radiator fluid

Question
99 deville loses radiator fluid and overheats.
i was told that it is the motor gaskets.
question should there be white smoke appearing from exaust.?(i have none)there are no other leaks.

WHERE the head gasket has failed determines whether you get smoke out the exhaust or not. You need to perform a radiator pressure test with the thermostat out of the place where it sets in and as you add pressure into the radiator you can watch where the thermostat was for bubbles which would indicate a head gasket leak.

Or you can inset air pressure into each combustion chamber with the radiator cap OFF and watch for bubbles.

These tests are to be performed by a professional as if you put to much pressure in either item you can damage the engine.

Ignition timing not being set correctly can also cause overheat problems.
