Cadillac Repair: 95 Cadillac Deville brakes, rotor surface, cadillac deville

Question
My son replaced the front brakes pads of his 1995 Cadillac Deville and bled the brakes, but the car still doesn't stop.  Do you know why? It will slow down.

Answer
Hi Kathy, Grease or oil on the rotor surface or brake pad surface are a no no and the rotor will need to get cleaned with a spray called brake clean so all the oil or grease is gone and the pads replaced again. The rotors should be turned or machined so the surfaces are not shiney or glazed.  The caliper bushings need the be lubed so the caliper can slide freely on the bolts. If all that is done then stopping 8 times from 30mph will help seat the brakes and help them stop better after a cooldown period of aprox 1 hour. If all those suggestions don't help then I would take the car in and have a tech look at it before you have an accedent. Hope that helps. Bill
