1998 cadillac diville d elegance I had change the alternator and a new battery plus cylinder with a new key. car did not start . I did notice in the information center stated the following; Auto the theft engage car may not start . How can i fix this may self. Do I have to buy a toll to fix problem

Hi Kevin, Sorry I guess there were 2 people with identical problems and thought they were the same person. To answer your question yes you will need a digital ohmeter to read the key pellet resistance of the original key and the new key and then you will need to separate the wire connector at the bottom of the steering column and measure the resistance again while turning the key serveral times. If you get a differant reading then the key is the wrong one or if the circuit goes open then the wire comming from the lock cylinder is damaged and will need to be repaired or the lock cylinder replaced again.
