QuestionQUESTION: first back story. ive replaced my cap bug pick up coil and my truck started for like a second the was told the replace the ignition coil did that and it ran great i had to wait to get to work to install it on the bracket because the factory coil is revited on so i drove 30 miles to work ran fine drove 2 miles to lunch and back ran fine pulled it into the my shop ran fine installed it on the bracket and then it started for a second and died replaced it and had warrenty on coil but now i cant recreat it whats going on and ive checked all my wires and conectors also no one can tell me whats going on ive good lots of mechanic friend and ase cretifed mechanic that go to my church and theyve never heard of this be for
ANSWER: HI BOB, OK SO WE CAN RULE OUT THE COIL, I WILL ASSUME YOU HAVE CHECKED FOR SPARK AND THERE IS NO SPARK, CORRECT ??? IT IS VERY POSSIBLE THAT WHEN YOU REPLACED THE IGN COIL THERE WAS A SPIKE THAT TOOK OUT THE IGNITION MODULE..THIS ENGINE ALSO HAS A CRANK POSITION SENSOR. IF YOU HAD A SCAN TOOL YOU COULD CK FOR LIVE DATA TO CK FOR CRANK SIGNAL WHEN CRANKING THE ENG OVER.
NEXT MOVE IS TO CK FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE TO THE IGN COIL MAKE SURE IT IS THERE. IF NOT MAY HAVE BAD WIRING..ALSO CK YOUR WIRE CONNECTION TO THE COIL CK THE PINK AND WHITE WIRES MAKE SURE THEY ARE NOT BROKEN,THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH THESE V-6'S..IF ALL THIS LOOKS GOOD YOU BETTER CK FOR FUEL TO BE SURE THIS IS NOT YOUR PROBLEM, A QUICK TEST WOULD BE TO GRAB YOURSELF A CAN OF STARTING FLUID AND SPRAY IT INTO THE THROTTLE BODY WHILE SOMEBODY CRANKS THE ENG OVER.IF IT STARTS THE FUEL PUMP IS MORE THEN LIKELY BAD...SO,, CK FOR SPARK,IF GOOD CK FOR FUEL..IF NO SPARK CK THE ABOVE AND ALSO CK ALL OF YOU FUSES FOR A BAD IGN FUSE THAT MAY HAVE GONE BAD...GET BACK TO ME WHEN YOU FIND OUT MORE..GOOD LUCK TO YOU,,,TOM...

QUESTION: Modules good had it tested I checked the wires going to the coil its good got 12v going to one part of the plug and had someone try and start it while I checked the other sidebof the plug for pulsing voltage its good someone told me if it pulsing then its not the crank sensor is the true I tested the fuses when I started all this guess I'll look at them again tomorrow and I did hook up a fuel pressure gage and had 56 psi which I was told that's good I double checked to see if I'm getting fire but no luck I just think its weird that it ran fine when I had the coil just sitting there and when I installed it on th bracket it wouldn't start I'm rurunning out of money and patience lol thanks for your help
ANSWER: GOOD DAY BOB,OK FUEL PRESSURE IS GOOD. STOP LOOKING HERE.THE PULSING VOLTAGE IS CORRECT..HOW DO YOU KNOW ITS NOT ANOTHER BAD COIL ???? DID YOU CK THE HARNESS TO THE COIL AS I SAID ABOVE ?
I KNOW THERE IS POWER THERE BUT CK THE WIRES REAL GOOD. THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE ENG'S..CK THIS FOR THE HECK OF IT,, REMOVE THE COIL FROM THE BRACKET AND SEE IF THE ENG FIRES LIKE THIS. I WONDER IF THE COIL IS GROUNDING OUT TO THE BRACKET ?? A LEAK IN THE OUTER CASE OF THE COIL WILL CAUSE THIS...ALSO, I ALWAYS QUESTION HOW PEOPLE CK FOR GOOD MODULES AND WHAT THEY CK THEM ON ??? ON A TESTER AT AUTO ZONE ??? QUESTION: sorry i just got back from out of state work i think im going to put it in the shop i've done everything we've talked about tried putting it back where it was off the bracket and nothing replaced the coil 4 time and nothing it might be the harness i just cant get that far into it im at a loss thanks for your help
