Chevrolet Repair: Steering column bearing, chevy store, salvage yard

Question
I have a 78 K10 and when I was replacing the steering wheel I noticed the steering shaft/column bearing had worn out. No parts store supplies these (O'Reilly's, autozone, advance, car quest) so I checked with the dealer. Their database only goes back to 82 but the first K10 is 85. Does the steering column bearing of an 85 K10 cross over to a 78?

HI DAN,GOOD QUESTION !!!I WOULD SUGGEST BRINGING THE OLD BEARING WITH YOU TO THE CHEVY STORE AND SEE IF IT IS THE SAME SIZE AND SHAPE..HOPE FOR THE BEST..IF THAT DOES NOT WORK GET ON LINE AND SEARCH FOR A USED ONE AT A SALVAGE YARD.YOU MAY END UP BUYING A USED COLUMN..I WISH I COULD HELP YOU OUT MORE, BUT THIS IS A TOUGH ONE TO SAY..TOM..
