Chevrolet Repair: 350 water circulation problem, circulation problem, water circulation

Question
Hi, I have a 1995 chev. suburban that I just put a new long block in. Everything is new, including, water pump, 195 thermostst, hoses, flushed and tested radiator. It fired right up but I can't get the water to circulate through the radiator, so it wants to over heat. I thought air lock, so I removed the thermostat housing and fill it completely, checked tstat for opening in boiling water, took off the new pump and opened the back, to make sure they put on an impeller, I give up, it's such a simple system, it circulates through the heater core just fine. When I put the intake manifold on I was very careful to put the gaskets on correctly and right sides up. I cut down the upper rad. hose down so it's as low as possible. Any suggestions? Thanks JG

Answer
HI JOHN, THIS IS A LONG SHOT BUT,I PUT A NEW RADIATOR IN CAR AND HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO ME.I FOUND A PLASTIC PLUG INSIDE THE RADIATOR NECK THAT WAS USED TO COVER THE HOSE OUTLETS..IT WAS INSIDE THE LOWER NECK,WAY INSIDE!!!!  A SUGGESTION WOULD BE TO OPEN UP THE DRAIN PLUGS ON THE LOWER SIDES OF THE BLOCK OR SOFT PLUGS TO SEE IF ANY COOLANT COMES OUT OF THESE AREA'S.SHOULD FLOW LIKE CRAZY.. MAYBE THIS NEW BLOCK IS PLUGGED WITH SOMETHING.. WOW, I AM AT A LOSS.. PLEASE GET BACK TO ME ON THIS ONE IF YOU FIND IT......TOM...
