Chevrolet Repair: Headlights 96 Chev S-10, high beams, fuse box

Question
I turn on the High-Beam and after 5 mins. or so the high-beams go off and on, off and on, off and on, very rapidly.  This could continue forever.  I switch to low-beam and everything is cool.  No problems.  Any ideas?

Answer
It sounds to  me like you have a bad high beam relay.  If the contacts are broken inside or corroded it may work fine until it gets hot and shuts them down til cool then back on.  Also the S-10's had a ton of issues with the multifunction switch, the turn signal switch itself. It could be the switch that when you pull back on the stick, it's fine, but when the contacts hit bumps or get hot the lights will flicker.  Try swapping the relay first, easier and less expensive, you can also swap it with another relay in the fuse box first just to test it.  If not my guess would be the switch
