Chevrolet Repair: 2001 zr2 no injector pulse, oil pressure sending unit, check fuse

Question
i recently put a new pump, filter, cap, rotor, plugs, wires on my 2001 zr2. i have had a problem with it not wanting to fire up. it will crank for about 35-45 seconds before it fires up. very hard starting. so i thought maybe i had a bad pump or i just pinched a line or forgot a ground. i pulled the tank and put a new pump in and reset the computer like i was taught to do. well now the truck wont start at all. it will run off of starting fluid but nothing else. im at my wits end and im running out of time to fix it. plz help!!!

Answer
Hi Nick.... it is not nessery to reset computer...if you put in a new pump... check the wires at the pump...when you turn key on it should light up test light for 3 seconds....if it doesn't check fuse and fuel pump relay.if all that is ok you need to check circut for an open...make sure sending unit in the tank has a good ground...if you have power to the pump and it still doesn't run try putting 12 v direct to pump with a good ground..if still doesn't run change pump...before you changed pump again and it ran after 45 sec of cranking it sounded like you needed a new fuel pump relay...truck will default to oil pressure sending unit getting pressure  to turn pump on if relay has gone bad, resulting in long crank times to build oil pressure...hope this helps
