Chevrolet Repair: horn, soda cans, plastic horn

Question
I have a question! Last night my horn came on and would not go off. It got so bad we had to put soda cans on it to stop it because it was so loud. Then as soon as I started my car up and drove it around it the horn never made a noise again. Do you have any advice of what might of been going on with it?

Answer
There are a couple things that could of caused this.
A shorted wire from the horn contact to the horn relay. A stuck horn relay. Or most common is an over sensitive horn switch in the steering wheel. Sometimes the plastic horn pad contracts in the cold weather and activates the switch. You can try tapping lightly on the horn pad and if the horn chirps, the pad/switch is too sensitive. You can replace the horn switch or bend out the contacts to make it need more pressure to activate.
