Chevrolet Repair: 97 Blazer ignition lock replaced, now it wont start, chevy blazer, couple web

Question
I have a 1997 Chevy Blazer 4.3 V6 4WD, I was having problems with the key getting stuck and sometimes not turning to the start position. The truck would start just fine until I changed the ignition lock today, now the key works fine but the truck wont start. Is there something I need to reset? I have heard "passlock" but I'm not sure exactly what that is....can you help?

Answer
If you just replaced the ignition cylinder (not the switch) the Passlock system should not be affected. I would make sure you indexed it correctly when installing it.

If you replaced the entire ignition cylinder you may have a Passlock problem. I looked on a couple web sites to get you the Passlock procedure but couldn't find it. you can go to www.eautorepair.net and buy a 2 or 3 day subscription for the repair manual for your car. Then you can obtain the correct procedure.
