Chevrolet Repair: oil pressure, chevy s10 pickup, oil pressure gauge

Question
I have a 97 Chevy S10 pickup V6 2WD with 96K. The oil pressure gauge has been dropping to 40 a lot, sometimes when I accelerate. The first time it happened I was in high altitude (10,000 ft). I live at 5000 ft. if it matters. It has always been dead on 60. I do have a very slow pan leak but keep oil full. Thanks for the help.

Answer
normal operation.  Recommended spec are 10 - 60 psi.  Maybe your sender could be going bad as well.  What are you talking about sponsor offers.  I take time out of my day to answer questions asked by idiots.  No gives me anything to do this and you think my answer is a piece of shit.  Your oil psi is within spec between 10 and 60.  Usually cold it will be on the higher side 45- 60 as it warms up it may be 20-30 at idle.  If the gauge is fluctuating alot you may need a sender.  Has a intermittent circuit in it.
