Chevrolet Repair: 1999 Chevy Tahoe, speed sensor, chevy tahoe, brake rotor

Question
Looking on the internet, I found that the 2000 Chevy Tahoe has a recall for the speed sensor.  My son's 1999 tahoe acts the way they describe, the ABS seems to release at low speeds and then has to be pumped to stop the car.  Question is, where is the speed sensor located.  Since the recall was in salt states, I'm guessing it is in the hub somewhere? which tire?  or is it someplace else?

Thank you for your help

Answer
Hi Ilona, The sensor is located in the front wheel bearing/hub. You need to remove the brake rotor, then there are 2 bolts that hold the wheel bearing and a sheild on. remove these to get to the speed sensor. Now remove the allen head bolt that retains the speed sensor and remove the sensor. Now sand the surface on the wheel bearing where the sensor mounts to remove the rust build up. Now coat that area with grease to prevent rust from coming back and put it back together. Do both sides in the front. This will repair the truck.
