Chevrolet Repair: heater, 1991 chevy corsica, heater core removal

Question
how to remove heater core on 1991 chevy corsica

Answer
Hello Charles.....Heater core removal is not the favorite subject with any tech. You will more than likely have to remove the glove box and look behind it.Some had a plenum box that would split in two with the removal of the surrounding screws or metallic clip retainers. In the early models you had to remove the lower dash panel to sneak it out. If you take your time and look to see where the core comes through the firewall it will reveal a lot of hidden mounting bolts. I have seen retaining screws come through the ''firewall side '' under the hood. If you are careful you should have no problem changing the core. Do yourself a favor and purchase a quality core. The ''aftrmarkets'' sometimes don't hold up too well, and don't pull or pry on the ''tubes''. They break very easily at the joints..Good luck, take your time...you CAN do it!...Best
