Chevrolet Repair: brakes, rear drums, rear brakes

 hi i am working on a 2002 pontaic grand am with abs brakes no i clean and ajusted rear brakes and bleed the system twos and my brake pedal still feel soft now i measured the dis at rest from the floor to the pedal is 5" when i put pressure on it it measure 4" dis traveled can you tell me if this is good or bad in the repair book it said max travel to floor is 2-29/32 inch. please help me on this matter thank you tim

Hello Tim,
When you had the rear drums off, did you check the self adjusters to make sure they weren't frozen up? That star shaped wheel needs to turn fairly easily, so that lever will turn it.
Then make sure they are adjusted up to just barely rubbing when at rest.

If the pedal stays soft and spongy, and you are sure they are well bled, you might need a new master cylinder.
