Chevrolet Repair: 86 S-10 Blazer, Missing out, electronic sensors, intermittent fault

Question
I drive an 86 S-10 Blazer, 4 cylinder, TBI, 4 speed manual.  Sometimes it misses out and runs rough, most noticable on the highway.  No backfire, just quick stops in motor.  The Check Engine light does not come on.  The problem is intermitent, seems to only do it when it is hot outside.  If I drive at night or morning it is fine, but driving in the heat of the day makes it miss out.  This leads me to believe that the problem is not associated with anything near the motor (with engine heat it wouldn't matter what the outside temp. is).  Could it be the computer?  What should I check and how should I check?
Thanks for your help.

Answer
It could be an intermittent fault in any number of electronic sensors and Without having access to the vehicle and not being able to read the vehicles information with the appropriate DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT there are just to many possible faults that it could be to even make an educated guess.
