Chevrolet Repair: firing sequence, chevy silverado, firing order

Question
Hi- we replaced the spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor on a 1990 Chevy Silverado. It will not start now. Can you tell me the firing sequence? Please include where you start numbering on the cap and the plugs. Many thanks.

Answer
Hello Tina,

You really need a manual to see a picture of the cap. You can see a manual at the library, or a parts house may let you look at one.
Hastings book stores have them that you can sit and look through also.

The firing order is cast into the intake manifold, but I believe is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. Depends on what engine you have.

The cylinders, assuming it is a V8, are numbered from front to rear...1-3-5-7 on the drivers side, and 2-4-6-8 on the passengers side...also cast on the intake manifold.

Rotation of the distributor, I believe, is clockwise...also cast on the intake manifold.

The only thing not cast on the manifold, is which is the distributor connection for the #1 plug wire. It is usually the one pointing toward the #1 cylinder.
