Chevrolet Repair: Confusion, chevy blazer, abs light

I have a 2001 Chevy Blazer.  The Brake light and the ABS light are on.  I was told by one mech. that it had to go to the dealership to figure out what the problem is with it.  THey want $85.00 per hour and a min of 3 hours to check it out to even tell me what it might be and if I can keep driving it in the meen time because I dont have a lot of cash to fix it right now especially if they charge me 300to look at it first.  I think its nothing but I dont know if its just a computer that needs to be reset or if I could drive it one day and kill myself

Well you can reset the lite by removing the positive battery cable for 5 minutes then hook it up again. Check your brake fluid could be low, you shouldnt have a problem driving it. I would also look for another mechanic, if these things that I told you dont fix it, then it will have to go on a computer. It could be a electrical problem Thanks Kelly...
