Chevrolet Repair: 96 Cavalier Tranny Problem, fuel filter, second opinion

Well about 6 months ago my Cavalier wouldn't shift out of first gear until you lifted of the gas. It cleared up after I changed the filter. Recently it started doing it again so I changed the filter again. It has helped somewhat it will shift without lifting off the gas but its a bit delayed. I took it to be looked at and they said it needed to be rebuilt. I was looking for a second opinion on that and was wondering if it isn't fixed how long it last before stopped shifting out of first permanatly.

Hi Robert, If you change the air filter then it is time to do the fuel filter. The fuel filter can cause the trans to act like this when it gets plugged. The reason is your pushing down much farther on the gas to get the car going.
