Chevrolet Repair: windshield wipers, wiper assembly, older models

Hello,

I have a 98 Chev Astro van and the wipers have stopped working completely.  Before that they would work on occassion but sometimes stop on the windshield half way and eventually start working again.  At times they had to be moved manually to get them to work again.

What part needs replacing? A switch, motor, etc.?

Sorry this is so late...I was out of town taking care of some parent plans.
On older models, there was a problem with the control board of the wipers, which is inside tha box on the wiper assembly, and is the part the wire connector plugs to.
I remember hearing of a recall campaign on that problem, so check with a dealer and have them look that up for you. They may fix it free.
