Chrysler Repair: 07 GrandCherokee: dash lights flashing

Question
Recently have a problem with interior lights on dash they go on and off on their own, will blink constantly once in a while day or night, lasting sometimes a minute.   Brought it to jeep and they hooked it up to computer and cannot see a problem.  They informed me that several people only have had this problem and they can "try"  one thing at a time, a choice between replacing one of three things, obviously you pay for each, if it doesn't work they will try next.  My question now becomes, I received a recall for the final drive controller module, which is software related.  I have an appointment to have this fixed, will that fix my light problem too maybe because it is also software related?  If not, have you heard of this before, what is your opinion please?  Thanks,

Carol

Answer
Hi Carol,
By "interior lights on dash" do you mean simply the illumination lighting of the instrument cluster, or do you mean those along with other dash devices' illumination lights (e.g. the heater control panel, radio panel, etc.) as well OR do you mean the warning lights on the cluster rather than any of the illumination lights OR do you also mean the overhead cabin illumination lights are also flashing? I have the wiring diagrams but to analyze the cause I need the details as to which sorts of lights are flashing and when (day/night/both).
Is the vehicle a Grand Cherokee or a Grand Cherokee Commander (these have different service manuals so I want to be sure I look in the correct manual)? Look at the 5th position of the vehicle identification number on the top of the dash and tell me the letter or number that you see there. Thanks for clarifying for me.
I do doubt that the recall for the final drive controller module will any way improve the lighting.
Let me know the answers to my questions and we'll go from there.
Please read the PS (below) and respond to it.
Thanks,
Roland
Addendum: This problem is probably not related to software but rather some electrical connection which should be fixable. So do let me know the answers.
