Chrysler Repair: p1294 code, dodge stratus, pin assignments

Question
I am getting a code on my 2000 dodge stratus. The code is p1294. What and how do I fix it?

Answer
Hi Mel,
That is the code for the idle speed not being achieved and suggests either an issue the idle air control motor in the throttle body or its circuits. The unit is mounted on the throttle body and has a 4-wire plug, arranged in a single row. You can check the resistance of the two coils in the motor: between the two middle pins of the socket it should be between 38 and 52 ohms and similarly between the outer two pins of the socket. If that checks out then you might want to remove the motor and clean off its tip and the psssageway into which it fits. Finally look at the harness and see if there is any sign of damage to the 4 wires. I can tell you the pin assignments to check for continuity to the pcm if all the above fails to correct things.
