Chrysler Repair: 98 3.3 V-6: no start, code 66, wd 40, grand caravan

Question
hello I have a 98 grand  caravan 3.3 v6. This morning i went to start the van and it turns over but doesn't fire. At first i thought might be fuel pump but it wasn't running rough anything before. I did check engine light test came up with a code 66 which am told has something to do with transmission, but i don't see how that would have anything to do with it not starting. I know very vague but all i have atm. Any ideas?

Answer
Hi Jeremy,
If you truly have a 66, that does mean that the digital data bus signal from either the transmission or the body computer is not being detected at the engine computer. But tell me, did you also get the code 55? Did you run the key test more than once to be sure it was the 66?
I don't see how the 66, if true would cause a no start. You might want to check your egr valve to make sure that it isn't stuck ajar. Try moving the stem via the slot using the tip of a screwdriver. It should close firmly in one direction via internal spring-action. If it seems to be sticky, the spraay some WD-40 on the stem where it enters the valve body an limber it up some more. I'll await further report. I assume you hear the fuel pump hum for about a second when you first turn the key to the run postition. If not let me know that as well.
