Chrysler Repair: K-frame crossmember intercompatibility: 83-87, newark new jersey, seat belts

Question
Hi, Roland. I have a Lebaron 1985.
Here is the V.I.N.
1 = made in U.S.
C = Chrysler
3 = Passenger car
B = manual seat belts
C = LeBaron
5 = trim level, premium
6 = 4 door sedan
E = 2.2L turbo
6 = a "check" digit for VIN verification
F = 1985
F = Manufacturing plant (Newark, New Jersey)

I'm looking for a cross member for my car, but I fail to find it on-line. Do you have any idea where should I look for it?  Is it compatible with other models? Is this the only name of that part that it's referred to? Thank you.

Answer
Hi Miro,
The crossmember located under the engine is also called the K-frame. Fortunately while there are many different vehicles made by Chrysler during those years, there were only 2 different K-frames. One is used on the smaller vehiles (Omni/Horizon, called the L-body) and those on all the rest (K,E,G,H-body). Your vehicle is a K-body for information in the future about other aspects.
If you can find a wrecked '83-'87 Chrysler manufactured vehicle (except for the L-body) the K-frame crossmember should be the same as in your car. That would be the most economical way to get it used and in locally.
