Chrysler Repair: 01 Dodge Caravan: poor idle/dies, dodge caravan, powertrain control

Hi Roland, I have a Caravan that's sputtering when started, when I put it in gear it stalls out.  I had a mechanic hook up a computer to it and it read 2.5 volts coming out, where it should be 5 volts.  He recommended a new motor computer.  I installed it today and the engine is running the same.  Please help,  Mystified in Massachusetts

Tell me where he measured 2.5V (which pin of what plug, if possible, or I guess he measured the 5V supply output pin of the old computer?) and we'll figure out what is the issue. Do you mean you bought a new powertrain control module? Give me the details and I'm sure we can solve this one.
You migh also try to get a fault code readout using the ignition key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window to see if the mileage reading changes to show a 4-digit number preceded by a P. Let me know. Also which size engine (L) do you have?
