Chrysler Repair: 97 Intrepid theft alarm problem, ohm resistor, 1997 dodge intrepid

Question
I have a 1997 dodge intrepid that I bought from a wholesaler, and only recieved two keys when I bought it, no FOB... I locked the doors one night and it must have armed the system. there is no audible alarm, but the headlights flash... when I try to start the car, it runs for a few seconds then shuts down... I have tried to unlock the doors manually on the drivers and passenger side and didnt work.. any help would be greatly appreciated..

Answer
Hi Victor,
It does appear that you have not successfully disarmed the security system. Try the passenger door one more time: lock, then unlock it using the door key. If that doesn't clear the system then you can try faking out the body control module to make it think you have done that key action (apparently the wire from both door locks is broken).
You will find the body control module is located on the back side of the fuse box that is at the left hand end of the dash. Remove the lower edge of the dash on the left side for better access. Then try to view the four plugs on the bcm. The blue plug is the one you want to interact with.
Pin 5 has a white/dark green wire which you can insert a small straight pin throught the insulation to access the conductive wire. Then you will need two resistors: approximately a 620 ohm and approximately a 2700 ohm which are available at electronic parts stores. Jump 12v from fuse 19 in the box to one end of the resistor and jump the other end of the resistor to the white/dark green wire. Do that with the 620 ohm resistor first, then with the 2700 ohm resistor. This is exactly what you would do with the door key in the lock were it connected properly to that wire. The result should be a disarming of the system.
The only way to avoid a repeat of this problem is to never use the key lock or the power door lock when you leave the vehicle. Only use the mechanical push-button locks to secure the doors.
The theft system is built in to the module and can't be removed independently.
