Chrysler Repair: 02 2.7L water pump replacement, water pump replacement, weep hole

sorry i forgot to give car details 2002 sebring 2.7 lt my question is what do i need to remove to replace it i have removed the generator and dropped the compressor ....thanks

Hi Sammie,
The water pump is driven by the timing chain and therefore it requires that the timing chain and sprockets must be removed. There are about 10 pages in the '04 manual which I could copy off a CD and email to you if you want to consider doing it yourself. It is not a simple job.
Are you certain that it is leaking badly? It is normal for the pump to 'weep' slightly at the front of the engine via a purposeful weep hole, and if that weep hole becomes blocked there is a secondary weep hole that causes coolant to weep at the rear of the engine. It would be good therefor to consider whether what you see is normal weep vs a frankly failed water pump seal which looses large amounts of coolant.
