Chrysler Repair: 00 LHS: horn/interior-exterior lights act on their own, hot weather, call answer

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2000 LHS that does crazy things.  The horn blows (as if the panic button is pushed) for no apparent reason (more often in hot weather) and the interior lights and headlights flash and dim occasionally. Flashing of lights will occur with or without ignition switch on. WHO YA GONNA CALL?

ANSWER: Hi David,
Here are the factors that may be involved:
On the horn, you didn't tell me how many times and/or for how long it blows. The body computer is programmed to activate the horn relay in various ways depending upon what specific aspect of the theft system is being tested. So tell me about the specifics of the horn when it sounds off by itself. It is possible that the horn relay is spontaneously closing in hot weather so you could try replacing it or at least switch with another relay with the same part number that is not critical to function of the car to see it the problem 'moves' to the other relay socket or not.
On the interior lights, those are probably coming 'on' because on of the door is not latched tightly enough so try pushing outward on each of doors (from inside the vehicle) to see which one will cause the interior lights to come on. Then move the striker for that door, mounted in the door frame, in-board a small amount so as to secure that door more tightly.
On the headlamps flashing, again, can you describe what you mean? Is it like when the theft alarm is set off? That too could be occuring when you have the theft system armed and the loosely latched door spontaneously 'opens'.
In fact, all these could be do to just a door being too loosely secured.

QUESTION: Sorry for the delay getting back to you.
The horn blasts as if the security alarm has been activated, but the headlights do not flash with horn.  The interior and dash lights flashing occurs quite often, but this is separate from the horn blowing issue.  Sometimes, lights flash when driving. The horn problem occurs only when car is unoccupied and more often on hot days.  Interior light flashing has happened while snowing.

Answer
Hi David,
Try fixing the door latch issue to deal with the interior light problem. On the horn sounding off, try using the remote to turn off the horn chirp feature: Press the lock button for 4 seconds and hold it, then press the unlock button, then release both buttons.
