Chrysler Repair: crank shaft sensor:3.3/3,8L, chrysler grand voyager, crank shaft

Question
I need to find out the location of the crank shaft sensor for my chrysler grand voyager 3.3

Answer
Hi Sabeer,
The sensor is located at the seam between the engine and the transmission, at the very front of the 'bell housing' which contains the torque converter and engine flexplate to which it is attached. It is on the side of the engine that is close to the firewall, so it is more accessible if you jackup each front wheel and hold the front end up with jack stands so that you can go underneath the minivan and reach up to remove it.
The sensor is inserted into a hole in bell housing, located just above the ribbed surface of the transaxle. It has a 3-wire connector that unplugs from the harness. That harness runs adjacent to the gear shift cable/housing, which may help you locate it (have a helper shift the transmission so you can locate it).  The sensor is secured to the metal flange adjacent to it by a single bolt. If you remove the bolt it will release the sensor's body and you can pull it straight out of the hole into which it is inserted for removal.
The new sensor will look like the old sensor but will have a paper spacer stuck to its tip. Leave that in place and insert the sensor into the hole until you feel the tip touch a hidden metal surface (the edge of the flex plate). Hold it in contact while you tighten the retaining bolt to hold it in place. The torque spec is about 9 foot-pounds, if you have a torque wrench, otherwise just secure it firmly so it's paper-covered tip will remain in contact with the metal surface.
Connect the electrical plug to the harness, lower the vehicle and your done.
