Chrysler Repair: 2004 Chrysler 300 3.5 engine bolt torque, bolt torque, cap nuts

Question
What are the rod and main bolt torque, and the main bolt bed plate torque.
Thanks Ray

Answer
Hi Ray,
The 'connecting rod cap-nuts' are tightened to 40 foot-pounds + 1/4 turn
There are three types of bolts relative to the main bearings:
In the order of torqueing:
inner main cap bolts to 15 foot-pounds + 1/4 turn
then measure crank end play
install connecting rods and measure side clearance
Install windage tray, then lube bolts (also called outer main bolts) and tighten to 20 foot-pounds + 1/4 turn
Install main cap tie (horizontal) bolts and tighten to 250 inch-pounds
There are a lot of specifics/steps that you should know if you don't have a good manual. I could copy and postal mail you about 7 pages from the '04 manual tomorrow if you have the time to wait.
