Chrysler Repair: Fuse Removal Cavity #5-Chrysler Sebring 2001, sebring conv, chrysler sebring

Question
QUESTION: How do I remove a fuse from cavity #5 located in the fuse box underneath the driver side for a Chrysler Sebring Conv. 2001. The fuse is incased with a black plastic holder and It won't pull out. I also don't see anything that opens upwards and i'm afraid I'll break it if i pull harder than I am.  Is there some trick to this?

ANSWER: I have manuals for the Sebring ('00 and '03) and they have the same underdash fuse box with fuse #5 being the ignition off draw fuse of 10 amp capacity. I don't have vehicle to look at to understand what you are describing so I can't give you any help it appears. But if you rock it gently back and forth perhaps it will release.

QUESTION: Thanks Roland. You are right about the function of cavity 5.  Here's a better description. the actual fuse is surrounded by a fork-shaped black plastic frame. It's the only fuse with this black plastic frame around it. YOu can pull the frame containing the fuse out of the socket, but the end of the fork legs/arms remain in the fuse slot and it won't come out anymore.  I hope that makes some sense. thanks for your knowledgable thoughts.

Answer
Hi G. Michael,
Maybe the best thing to do would be to go to a Chrysler dealer parts department and see what a replacement fuse/holder frame looks like and ask the counter-person what he knows about replacement. Or you could stop at an auto electronics shop and see if they can tell you with a simple free look at it.
