Chrysler Repair: 1996 Mini-Van; Power door lock cycling on-off, door locks, lock switch

Question
I have had my van for 11 years and it has about 165,000 miles on it.  I got it at 40,000 miles. From the beginning it has had issues with what appears to be a circuit.  Certain controls (rear wiper, door locks, speedometer) would work sometimes and sometimes they wouldn't.  I had diagnostic shops look at it but no one really solved the problem.  Now it's getting worse.  The door open light is on all the time.  As I accelerate, the electric door locks just keep going off and on.  Sounds bizarre.  More recently, one day my power window would not operate and the blinkers would not operate.  Then the next day they did.  No rhyme nor reason to the pattern.  My passengers think the vehicle is demon-possessed.  Any thoughts on correcting this without spending tons of money?

Answer
Hi David,
The problem with the door lock cycling is that one of your doors is not latched to the body tightly enough to push in the door ajar switch in the door opening. Probably either the driver door or the passenger latch striker in the frame of the door opening needs to be adjusted slightly in-board so as to secure the door more tightly when it is closed. Try pushing in/out on both doors and you will find one or the other invokes the 'demon'.
On the door locks (which aspect of that system didn't work: remote, key locks, interior lock switch?) and on the turn signals similarly (which aspect didn't work: lights themselves or the dash indicator?).
