Chrysler Repair: PO750 low reverse trans. solenoid error, dodge ram 1500, solenoid pack

Question
2006 Dodge Ram 1500 with only 32K miles, no trailer towing, bought brand new three years ago.  Transmission is slipping in low gear, and immediately set a few PO700 and a PO750 low reverse solenoid errors.  Question:  Other than removing the pan, does the valve body have to be dropped down to replace the low reverse solenoid?  If so, is there anything special I need to know about the valve body, valve body plate, bolts to remove, etc. please?  Some blogs say inadequate electrical or a bad output speed sensor may be at fault.  Alternator checks out good.  I'll put a new battery in it tomorrow, and clean the connections.  Any other tips for me please?  Is the input speed sensor a possible problem?  If so, is it easy to get to?  Thanks so much.  I appreciate your time and this site.

Answer
Hi Jay,
It would be worth checking the wiring to the low reverse solenoid to be sure it isn't open/grounded/shorted to voltage. I don't have a manual so new as your truck but I believe the solenoid pack may be removed from the side of the transmission without dropping the pan or the valve body. But I can't be sure because I don't have the truck manuals. On the cars, it removes from the side of the trans.  I believe you may find the wire to the l/r solenoid is on pin 7 of the plug and it comes from pin 20 of the tcm if you want to check that out first. The wire may be tan/yellow. That is based on an '02 van manual I have. It should show continuity between pin 4 and pin 7 as those are the two sides of the solenoid coil. The wire on pin 4 comes from the trans control relay which you might also check out by substuting another relay of the same part number that isn't crucial if there is such a 'spare' relay in the truck to experiment with.  I doubt it is the speed sensor, which is located just above the solenoid pack on the driver side of the trans and which you will neeed to remove probably in any case to get off the solenoid pack.

PS Might the vehicle still be under warranty? That would be nice!
